Workshops

Join Viv and Cicely at MacBear to make your own unique traditional teddy bear.

We hope that the following description tells you the essentials of what you need to know about the course.

On a two-day workshop you will make a 27cm teddy bear similar to the one in our picture. You will learn all the skills needed to construct your own traditional fully jointed mohair teddy bear, including; cutting out, sewing by hand, using a sewing machine, jointing, stuffing, sewing up, stitching a nose, attaching eyes and ears. All the materials and tools will be provided.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day (please let us know of any allergies or dietary requirements). Please bring your own lunch, however a lunch can be provided at an additional cost by prior arrangement.

Workshops are held at our house in Dunbar, a small historic fishing town in East Lothian and just 400m from a beautiful beach. Dunbar is easily accessible by bus or train from Edinburgh or Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Please note:

- To complete the workshop successfully you will need to be able to hand stitch and use a sewing machine confidently.

- The finished bear is intended to be a collector’s item and is not suitable for children under 14 years of age due to the small parts used in its construction.

Cost: £165 payable on booking. To book please contact us here.
